Our Mission

Lorem Allsorts was created to address the scattered nature of placeholder content tools across the web. As developers and designers, we constantly need quick access to placeholder text, images, and data for our projects.

We believe that placeholder content should be more than just "filler." It should help you make better design decisions, test realistic scenarios, and maintain professional standards throughout your development process. We have tried to design this site around our actual use cases and hope that other developers will find it works for theirs.

Why We Created This Platform

As a development team we found we we all had favorite sites for grabbing quick placeholder text, images and avatars. Some of us had bookmarks, others relied on googling every time. There was a lack of consistency and visual cohesiveness.

Added to that - sites would sometimes go down, be sold or just fail to serve the expected content. No one wants to be demoing their new proposal to a client and have to explain that it's failed to render because a third party placeholder site got a good offer on their domain name.

This site began as an internal tool, we put it in the public domain for ease of access and then made it available to other developers.

The Name

"Lorem Allsorts" is a playful combination of "Lorem Ipsum" (the classic placeholder text) and "Liquorice Allsorts" (the colorful liquorice treat).
